Ekain Cave, in Deba, contains magnificent cave paintings. The Cave has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2008. The Ekainberri replica is open to visitors.

The Northern route of the ST. JAMES WAY (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) Deba is one of the best places to have a rest where accommodation is available for pilgrims. The Way also passes through a number of beautiful rural areas in Mutriku, where there is also another pilgrims' hostel.

Nestled right in the heart of Deba's Old Quarter is Santa Maria Church, a National Monument and magnificent example of Basque Gothic architecture. Particularly woth noting are the cloister and the 15th cenury portico.

The Mutriku Monumental Complex. is officially recognised as one of the Basque Country's Cultural Assets. Getting lost in the narrow streets of the Old Town is a great way of immersing yourself in the history of the Basque Coast. You can also see the legacy left by many illustrous figures over the centuries, including the seafarers Cosme Damian Txurruka and Antonio Gaztañeta.
