Jai-alai baskets

Utensil made of woven strips of chestnut wood, approximately half a metre long. The shape is similar to a long fingernail, thin and curved, forming a hollow. It is used, strapped to the hand, for a variety of game played on a pelota court.

The artisans of our area make these baskets to measure and offer a specialised service to pelota courts. Although this is the main use of the jai-alai basket, it is also sometimes used as a decorative element.
